Summer means projects!

Summer always means time for projects in addition to the normal mowing, field and trail maintenance.  This winter we installed Geotek footing in the indoor which has been wonderful!  Next step was to get an automatic sprinkler system installed for watering.  So June 10th we have the sprinkler crew coming in to install our indoor sprinkler system.  Our outdoor arena has great sand/crumb rubber footing but can get dry in summer so we decided to also install a sprinkler system outside that automatically waters in the mornings and on demand.  The sprinkler system is nice as it's pop up style sprinklers so when they are not in use they aren't visible or a safety hazard.  They are in the walls for the indoor and outside the arena for the outdoor.

We rebuilt all the runs on the north side of the barn and added a run to the south side of the barn.  We chose to use a combination of coral panels and electrobraid - leading to safe and visible fencing.  We also added a dry lot with coral panel fencing to the area North of our Mare barn - this area is a super location for CANTER horses to transition from no turnout to our grass fields.  The panels are safe and highly visible and give the horses a chance to figure out being outside and solid fencing before they are turned out in the big grass fields that have electrobraid fencing.

Our other BIG project is an indoor wash rack! We tore down 2 stalls so that we can install a 10 x 12 wash rack with hot/cold water and overhead radiant heat.  This is a great option for the vet, farrier, chiropractor and massage therapist in winter and also lets you bath and then stand your horse under the radiant heat.  We also have a ceiling fan overhead so on hot summer days there's nice air flow too.   We added 3 Ramm stalls next to the wash rack bringing us up to 18 stalls total on the farm.  Thank goodness for handy engineer husbands and our barn manager Mike - these two have worked hard so far this summer and its only just begun!

It's been a busy spring with lots of lessons and training and we've had several sale horses come in the spring and have some lovely CANTER horses available.  Take a look around the website for new pictures and updates.   We're also gearing up for show season so come see us at Region 2 shows!
